Two more Cyclones have punched a ticket to the NCAA Wrestling Championships: sophomore Evan Frost at 133 and freshman Daniel Herrera at 285.
Iowa State will send eight wrestlers to the national tournament for the seventh consecutive season under head coach Kevin Dresser. The additions of Frost and Herrera come nine days before the start of the tournament.
Frost ranks sixth in the nation at 133 with a record of 19-4 with 12 bonus point wins, stringing together 12 consecutive victories ahead of the Big 12 Championship.
Herrera ranks No. 27 nationally with a record of 24-13 and 16 bonus point wins. The freshman heavyweight placed fifth at the Big 12 Championship.
Other qualifiers include Jacob Frost (141), Paniro Johnson (149), Cody Chittum (157), Aiden Riggins (165), MJ Gaitan (174) and Evan Bockman (184).
In all, five of the eight Cyclones that qualified are the higher seed in their matchups.
The NCAA Wrestling Championships are scheduled for Mar. 20-22 in Philadelphia and will be broadcast live on the networks of ESPN.
