Destiny 2: The Final Shape is here, the culmination of a decades’ worth of storytelling, and there’s a lot to enjoy with it. New modes, new weapons, a gorgeous new world. But once you pull yourself away from the stunning environments in The Final Shape, it’s time to explore more of the story. By now, you’ll have encountered Cayde, who requests help tracking down Crow as part of Temptation, the expansion’s second story mission. Here’s how to pull it off.

How to Deactivate the Conduits in Temptation

Unfortunately, Crow entered a cave that’s now blocked off by dark energy, and the only way through the wall is to deactivate three conduits scattered about the environment, with the closest being inside a cave across the bridge to the east.

On each conduit you encounter, you’ll note a panel on the backside of the circular platform. On either side, you’ll see clockwise and counterclockwise controls, which require Psionic Insight to operate. A mechanical control arm in the center of the platform will deactivate the conduit when turned to the correct position. It’s similar in style to a clock. The more Psionic Insight you insert, the more the arm in the center turns. A single Psionic Insight turns the lever halfway between, while two forces the lever into the 12, 3, 6, or 9 position.

The ultimate goal is to align the control arm with the glowing portion at the platform’s base. Once you do so, the arm deactivates that section. Some of the conduits feature two or three glowing locks.

After deactivating the first conduit, turn to your left while facing the first unit, then follow the dirt path leading south out of the cavern. Along this path, on the left-hand side, you’ll find the second conduit sitting atop a small hill. Once you repeat the process, continue following the path in the same direction, and you’ll quickly see the third and final conduit in the grass beside a handful of jutting rocks on the left-hand side of the path.

Where to get Psionic Insights

When interacting with the conduits, several enemies will spawn in small groups. Some of the enemies are these pitch-black Insight Psions. They’re straightforward to take down with a few well-placed shots and, upon death, drop Psionic Insights (confusing naming scheme!). Each one drops a single Psionic Insight, and they always spawn in groups of two. If you only require one Psionic Insight, pop the first one you see, then completely ignore the second. It won’t deal enough damage to you for it to matter.

Here’s the catch! Whenever you eliminate an Insight Psion to obtain a Psionic Insight, a timer will appear on your HUD on the left-hand side of your screen. It starts at a mere 20 seconds and steadily counts down. If you fail to return to the conduit in time, you must venture back out to find another Insight Psion.

Once you finish deactivating all three conduits, return to the dark energy cave to reveal the fruits of your labor. But watch yourself because you’ll wind up in an ambush by the Pillar of Denial—a towering boss with a unique totem-like mechanic that absorbs damage if you’re not careful. Take the beast down to continue with the storyline in The Final Shape!
