Iowa weather: Winds relax and cooler temperatures return

Just spotty rainfall is expected the next couple days in Iowa.

WE WANT TO STOP ON BY AND GIVE US A RIDE. THERE YOU GO. YEAH, WE CAN GO ANYWHERE IN THAT THING. THAT’D BE FUN. AND TODAY, MAN, YOU KNOW, A PERFECT DAY TO GET OUT AND TAKE A. AFTER WHAT WE HAD, ONCE WE GOT RID OF THE STORMS THIS MORNING, THINGS REALLY CLEARED OUT NICELY. IT’S BEEN WE’VE HAD A LITTLE BIT OF HUMIDITY EARLIER TODAY. NOW THINGS ARE QUITE DRYING BACK OUT. MAIN DEAL IS OBVIOUSLY THE WIND THAT’S STILL WITH US HERE AS WE HEAD INTO THIS EVENING WILL STILL BE BLUSTERY THROUGH ABOUT SUNSET. WINDS SHOULD DIE OFF. THEN A LITTLE BIT AFTER THAT SO WILL BE LIGHTER WINDS A LATE TONIGHT INTO TOMORROW MORNING. WE’RE MAINLY DRY TOMORROW AND FRIDAY THERE WILL BE A SPOTTY CHANCE BOTH TOMORROW AFTERNOON AND FRIDAY AFTERNOON OF A SHOWER. MAYBE A RUMBLE OF THUNDER WILL BE WET AT TIMES THIS UPCOMING WEEKEND. NOT SEVERE WEATHER SORT OF STUFF, BUT SOME RAINFALL LOOKS LIKELY. NOT DURING THE DAY. SATURDAY ACTUALLY, I THINK A GOOD CHUNK OF SATURDAY, MAYBE EARLY MORNING SHOWER, THEN MOST OF THE DAY DRY AND THEN RAIN MORE LIKELY LATER SATURDAY NIGHT, AND THEN AT LEAST THROUGH THE FIRST HALF OF SUNDAY. LOOKS KIND OF SOGGY OUTSIDE. NOTICE THE IMPACT. TEMPERATURES WILL DROP FROM 80 SATURDAY AFTERNOON TO JUST SOME 70S AND CLOUDS. EVEN WHEN RAIN ENDS ON THE SECOND HALF OF SUNDAY. OUTSIDE THIS EVENING, WE ACTUALLY DO HAVE A LITTLE BIT OF RAIN STILL IN PARTS OF THE STATE ACROSS NORTHWEST IOWA, WE SEE THAT YELLOW BOX THAT IS A SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WARNING STRETCHING FROM THE IOWA GREAT LAKES DOWN TOWARDS THE STORM LAKE AREA. AND THEN FARTHER WEST. THERE’S NOT REALLY A STORM UP THIS WAY. WHAT’S HAPPENING HERE IS IT’S JUST ALREADY PRETTY WINDY. AND THEN THESE LITTLE SHOWERS ZOOM INTO THE SOUTH AND EAST, GET A LITTLE BIT OF RAIN COOLED AIR FALLING OUT OF THOSE. AND THAT JUST KIND OF ADDS A LITTLE BIT OF EXTRA DOWNWARD MOMENTUM TO THE WINDS. AND YOU GET SOME 50, MAYBE 60 MILE PER HOUR GUSTS. I’VE SEEN A LOT OF KIND OF 50, 55 MILE PER HOUR GUSTS UP THAT DIRECTION. SO MIGHT HAVE A FEW STRONGER GUSTS. HEAD THIS DIRECTION TOWARDS POCAHONTAS, ROCKWELL CITY, PERHAPS OVER THE NEXT HOUR, HOUR AND A HALF. BUT WINDS ON THE WHOLE WILL BE GENERALLY DYING DOWN AS WE HEAD. LIKE I MENTIONED, SUNSET ONWARD. LAST GUSTS AREA AIRPORTS 33 MILE PER HOUR. GUSTS AT CARROLL 41 MILE PER HOUR. MOST RECENT GUSTS UP IN AMES. SO WE STILL HAVE PLENTY OF WINDS. NOTICE, THOUGH, THAT BRIGHT HOT RED COLOR DISAPPEARS AS OUR WINDS SLOWLY SUBSIDE AFTER SUNDOWN. AND THEN WE’LL JUST HAVE PROBABLY A 10 TO 15 MILE PER HOUR BREEZE. THE REST OF TONIGHT. SKIES WILL BE CLEAR TO THOSE LAST COUPLE LINGERING SHOWERS. THEY DISAPPEAR. THAT’S THE WAY WILL REMAIN INTO TOMORROW MORNING AS WELL. AND THEN DURING THE DAY TOMORROW HERE WE’LL SEE JUST A LITTLE BIT OF A NORTHWEST WIND AGAIN. TEN, MAYBE 15MPH. AND THEN MAYBE A COUPLE CLOUDS START TO BUBBLE UP AND THEN A FEW SPOTTY SHOWERS HERE WILL DOT THE MAP. DURING THAT KIND OF PEAK HEATING OF THE DAY, TWO, THREE, FOUR TO MAYBE 5:00 IN THE EVENING. THESE WILL BE PRETTY ISOLATED IN NATURE, THOUGH. JUST A LITTLE BRIEF RAINFALL, PERHAPS A RUMBLE OF THUNDER. THE MAIN THING YOU’LL NOTICE TOMORROW TO TEMPERATURES, ESPECIALLY AREAS THAT GOT UP TO THE 80S TODAY, WILL DROP YOU BACK DOWN TO UPPER 70S, AND THERE SHOULDN’T BE TOO MUCH HUMIDITY. TEMPERATURES WILL GO UP JUST A BIT ON FRIDAY. OTHERWISE, FRIDAY WILL BE SIMILAR TO TOMORROW, LOW 80S, A LITTLE BIT MORE CLOUD COVER. AGAIN, A SLIGHT CHANCE OF RAIN DURING THE AFTERNOON. ISOLATED FASHION SATURDAY IS MENTIONED MOSTLY DRY DURING THE DAY. THERE’S A SLIM CHANCE OF RAIN EARLY IN THE MORNING AND THEN MORE LIKELY INTO SATURDAY NIGHT. FIRST HALF OF SUNDAY KIND OF ON THE WEST SIDE AND OUR TEMPERATURES CONTINUE TO NOT
