Polls in Iowa are open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. today. Voters in line by 8 p.m. can still cast their ballot if they stay in line.

Iowa offers same-day registration at polling locations. Visit the link to see the correct polling location, bring an ID and proof of residence. Valid forms of ID include: 

  • Iowa Voter Identification Card
  • Iowa Driver’s License
  • Iowa Non-Operator ID
  • U.S. Military ID or Veteran ID
  • U.S. Passport
  • Tribal ID Card/Document

If the ID doesn’t provide the voter’s current address, they will need to provide proof of address, which must include name and current address, be within 45 days and can be electronic or on paper. Acceptable proof of residence includes a lease, utility bill, bank statement, paycheck or government check and any other government document.

The candidate for Story County’s Board of Supervisors, which manages local government activities in Story County, including budgeting, land use and public services, is Latifah Faisal (D).

The candidate for Story County Auditor is Lucy Martin (D), who will manage local elections, public records and budgeting.

The candidate for Story County Sheriff is Paul H. Fitzgerald (D). The sheriff is the chief law enforcement officer for Story County, responsible for public safety and manages the county jail.

Voters may select up to three candidates for trustees for the Story County Public Hospital:

Public Measures

Voters can select yes or no to the following:

Question 1: Should the state constitution limit voting to U.S. citizens aged 18 and older?

Question 2: Should the lieutenant governor step in the case of “the resignation, death, or permanent disability of the governor or governor-elect?”

Public Measure A: Should Story County issue up to $25 million in bonds to improve water quality, parks and conservation projects?

If not sent in by mail, absentee ballots must be returned in person before 8 p.m. Tuesday. A voter’s absentee ballot can be transported by close family members or someone within the same household.
