Nosferatu was one of the best horror films of 2024. With an impressive cast which included Bill Skarsgård, Lily-Rose Depp, Nicholas Hoult, and more, there was no way the gothic horror flick could go wrong. After adding Nosferatu stars to his next movie Werwulf, Robert Eggers is bringing in another star from the Oscar-nominated movie.
As of right now, the plot of Werwulf is under wraps. The only thing we know about the upcoming horror movie is that it will take place in 13th-century England. Werwulf will also have a Christmas Day release date for next year, just like Noseratu did last year. However, we can safely assume that the period horror film will explore the creature mythology of the werewolf.
Who is in the Werwulf cast?
As reported by Deadline, the latest Nosferatu actor to join Werwulf is Willem Dafoe. Back in December, Robert Eggers reportedly offered Dafoe roles in two movies. Without mentioning what the offers were, it looks like Werwulf was one of them.
Plus, the Spider-Man actor and Eggers have been frequent collaborators not only for Nosferatu, but for The Lighthouse and The Northman. Dafoe is also in early talks to star in Eggers’ retelling of A Christmas Carol, where he’ll be playing Ebenezer Scrooge. The Charles Dickens story’s supernatural elements and being a period piece go well with Eggers’ wheelhouse.
Other Nosferatu actors in talks for Werwulf include Lily-Rose Depp. She played Ellen Hutter, who unknowingly made an eerie connection to Count Orlok. Aaron Taylor-Johnson, who played Ellen’s friend’s husband, will also be in the new werewolf movie.
With Robert Eggers choosing his Nosferatu family to collaborate with him again for Werwulf, it proves the folk horror filmmaker knows good talent and sticks with it. Make sure to check in for more news on Werwulf and see it hit theaters on Christmas Day 2026.
