Iowa weather: More storm chances this week and for the weekend
We will see a mix of sun and clouds in central Iowa keeping temps in the 50s and low 60s on Tuesday. Cloudier areas will keep temps cooler in the mid and low 50s. We will clear up overnight, which will lead to a mostly sunny start on Wednesday.Interactive Radar | Weather Alerts Clouds will build back in Wednesday as a warm front approaches. This front will trigger some storm chances Thursday morning and some of us could wake up to rumbles of thunder with some storms possible. It isn’t a high chance, but some of these storms could tap into enough storm energy to form some hail with very isolated larger hail stones and some gusty winds. As mentioned previously, the severe weather threat will remain low during this time. We will be very warm Friday and mostly dry across the state. Strong south winds will get us around 80 degrees for high temperatures. The trailing cold front will then move in for the weekend bringing back storm chances for both Saturday and Sunday. The placement of these storms and timing is still in question since there is still a decent amount of model uncertainty. There is some agreement placing the strongest storms over the states to our south with the northern severe potential possibly only reaching our southern Iowa border. The developing weekend system will continue to be a feature we monitor through the coming days. Iowa weather forecastToday: Sunshine and clouds mixed. Chance of isolated showers. High 58F.
