Iowa weather: More storm chances this week and for the weekend

FOR THE WARMER TEMPERATURES. BY THE END OF THE WEEK, BUT IT’S DEFINITELY FEELING LIKE SPRING OUT THERE. ACTUALLY A LOT OF SUNSHINE TODAY COMPARED TO YESTERDAY. SO THAT SHOULD MAKE A GOOD DIFFERENCE HERE IN HOW TODAY FEELS AS WE HEAD INTO THE AFTERNOON. JUST A FEW CUMULUS CLOUDS OUT THERE. TEMPERATURES LOW 50S. WE SHOULD CLIMB INTO THE MID AND UPPER 50S HERE BY THE END OF THE DAY. TODAY WE’VE GOT LIGHT WINDS OUT THERE AS WELL. MOST OF THE CLOUDS HAVE PUSHED OFF TO THE EAST. WE’VE GOT MAYBE A LITTLE BIT OF CLOUD COVER OUT INTO FAR WESTERN IOWA. SAME FOR SOUTHEASTERN IOWA, BUT OTHERWISE CENTRAL AND SOUTHERN PORTIONS OF THE STATE. LOOKING MOSTLY CLEAR HERE FOR THE LUNCH HOUR. TEMPERATURES CONTINUE TO CLIMB HERE THROUGH THE AFTERNOON, CLOSE TO 60 TODAY, AND THEN A SLOW DROP OFF FOR US HERE THROUGH THE EARLY EVENING HOURS. SO IF YOU HAVE PLANS TONIGHT, TEMPERATURES ARE PRETTY COMFORTABLE THROUGH EIGHT AND 9:00. HOUR BY HOUR FORECAST LOOKS LIKE THIS. WE KEEP THE SKIES MAINLY CLEAR HERE THROUGH THE AFTERNOON. A FEW CLOUDS MOVING BACK IN BY THIS EVENING. JUST LIKE YESTERDAY. ISOLATED CHANCES FOR A SHOWER OR TWO TO POP UP HERE THROUGH TUESDAY EVENING, ESPECIALLY INTO THE EASTERN HALF OF THE STATE. AND NO STORMS LIKELY, BUT MAYBE A RUMBLE OF THUNDER WITH THOSE. IT’S GOING TO BE PRETTY SCATTERED OR PRETTY ISOLATED, I SHOULD SAY, AND VERY HIT OR MISS. SO I THINK A LOT OF US STAY DRY TONIGHT. WEDNESDAY SHOULD BE DRY. WE’LL WAKE UP TO MAYBE A FEW CLOUDS, AND THEN CLOUDS WILL DEFINITELY BE ON THE INCREASE HERE THROUGH WEDNESDAY NIGHT INTO THURSDAY. SO A GOOD MIX OF CLOUDS TOMORROW INTO THE DAY ON THURSDAY, AND THEN THURSDAY WILL BE OUR NEXT CHANCE FOR MORE WIDESPREAD RAIN AND STORMS. WE START OFF WITH A FEW ISOLATED SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS BECOMES A LITTLE BIT MORE WIDESPREAD THROUGH THE MID-MORNING HOURS AND THEN THROUGH THE AFTERNOON. THOSE WILL SHIFT OFF TO THE EAST AND WE’LL START TO SEE MORE CLEARING HERE. BEHIND THOSE STORMS THROUGH THE AFTERNOON, WE COULD SEE A LITTLE BIT OF HAIL INSIDE ANY OF THOSE CELLS, BUT OVERALL THURSDAY WILL BE A FAIRLY STORMY DAY. AND THEN AGAIN AS WE HEAD INTO THE WEEKEND ON SATURDAY, WINDS LATER ON TODAY GUSTING MAYBE 15 TO 20MPH. SO THEY PEAK A LITTLE BIT HERE THROUGH THE AFTERNOON AND EVENING AND THEN WEAKEN GOING INTO THE OVERNIGHT HOURS. TONIGHT IT GETS MUCH WINDIER THOUGH, AS WE HEAD INTO THE WEEKEND. SO TODAY’S FORECAST UPPER 50S LIKELY MORE SUNSHINE HERE THROUGH THE AFTERNOON. AN ISOLATED SHOWER IS POSSIBLE LATER ON TONIGHT, ESPECIALLY EAST OF I-35, WILL FALL INTO THE MID 30S TONIGHT. SO A LITTLE BIT OF A CHILLIER EVENING TOMORROW. KIND OF LIKE TODAY. A MIX OF SUN AND CLOUDS. AND THEN TEMPERATURES ARE BACK UP INTO THE 60S. SO WE’LL STAY IN THE LOW 60S. WEDNESDAY WE BUMP UP TO NEAR 70 ON THURSDAY. THAT’S WHEN WE’LL SEE THE CHANCE FOR SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS. A LITTLE BREAK FRIDAY, BUT HIGH TEMPERATURES ARE RIGHT AT 80 DEGREES. IT WILL BE WINDY TO END OUT THE WORKWEEK, AND THEN THE WEEKEND FEATURES MORE STORMS BOTH SATURDAY AND SUNDAY. HIGHS ON SATURDAY BACK UP NEAR 70. A LITTLE BIT COOLER THOUGH. SUNDAY HIGHS ONLY IN THE UPPER 40

Iowa weather: More storm chances this week and for the weekend

We will see a mix of sun and clouds in central Iowa keeping temps in the 50s and low 60s on Tuesday. Cloudier areas will keep temps cooler in the mid and low 50s. We will clear up overnight, which will lead to a mostly sunny start on Wednesday.Interactive Radar | Weather Alerts Clouds will build back in Wednesday as a warm front approaches. This front will trigger some storm chances Thursday morning and some of us could wake up to rumbles of thunder with some storms possible. It isn’t a high chance, but some of these storms could tap into enough storm energy to form some hail with very isolated larger hail stones and some gusty winds. As mentioned previously, the severe weather threat will remain low during this time. We will be very warm Friday and mostly dry across the state. Strong south winds will get us around 80 degrees for high temperatures. The trailing cold front will then move in for the weekend bringing back storm chances for both Saturday and Sunday. The placement of these storms and timing is still in question since there is still a decent amount of model uncertainty. There is some agreement placing the strongest storms over the states to our south with the northern severe potential possibly only reaching our southern Iowa border. The developing weekend system will continue to be a feature we monitor through the coming days. Iowa weather forecastToday: Sunshine and clouds mixed. Chance of isolated showers. High 58F.
