The Iowa State men’s basketball team took a loss last week for the first time in five games, but the setback didn’t hurt the Cyclones much in Monday’s new AP Top 25 poll.
Iowa State (24-7) went from No. 6 in last week’s poll to No. 7 in the final regular season rankings released Monday.
The loss didn’t cost the Cyclones significantly due to several other highly ranked teams losing in addition to ISU. Eight teams among the top 15 of last week’s poll, including Iowa State, took at least one loss last week.
The Cyclones finished second in the Big 12 with a 13-5 record. Iowa State will take the court Thursday for its first Big 12 Tournament game, playing the winner of a Wednesday night game between No. 7 seed Texas and No. 10 seed Kansas State.
Drake was not ranked but did receive votes in the wake of its Missouri Valley Conference Tournament championship victory over Indiana State.
