Iowa State wrapped up the Felsberg Invitational with a 1-4 record. After falling to Indiana in their third game 9-1, the Cyclones bounced back with a 7-5 win over FIU before dropping the tournament finale to Indiana 7-5.

Saturday, Game 1: Indiana 9, Iowa State 1 (Five)

The Cyclones started hot on a sacrifice fly from freshman Jessie Clemons in the first inning, but that would be their only run of the game. Indiana responded with nine unanswered runs, sealing a 9-1 victory in five innings.

Iowa State’s offense struggled, managing just two hits—both coming in the fifth inning—and drawing one walk. Indiana pitcher Jenae Berry dominated, carrying a no-hitter into the fifth.

The Cyclone pitchers gave up 11 hits and allowed nine earned runs. Junior Jaiden Ralston, freshman Abby Huhn and sophomore Lauren Schurman combined for just two strikeouts while walking three and hitting two batters. Despite the pitching woes, Iowa State’s defense played a clean game with no errors.

Saturday, Game 2: Iowa State 7, FIU 5

The Cyclones bounced back in their second matchup against FIU. Senior Angelina Allen opened the scoring with a two-run homer in the first inning. FIU tied the game in the second, but Iowa State reclaimed the lead on a two-run double by Clemons in the third. After the Panthers took a 5-4 lead, freshman Sereniti Trice tied it with an RBI groundout.

In the seventh inning, the Cyclones put the game away with back-to-back RBI doubles from junior Sydney Malott and sophomore Isabelle Nosan, which secured a 7-5 win.

The offense came alive with 11 hits, including four extra-base hits. Clemons, Malott and Nosan each had multi-hit games. Freshman Sami Potvin was clutch in relief, throwing 1.2 scoreless innings to close out the win.

Sunday, Championship: Indiana 7, Iowa State 5

In the tournament finale, the Cyclones struck first with a first-inning RBI single courtesy of junior Reagan Bartholomew. Indiana answered immediately and traded runs with Iowa State over the next few innings.

A two-RBI double by Bartholomew in the second gave the Cyclones a 4-1 lead, but Indiana tied the game with a three-run second inning.

Indiana then took a 5-4 lead in the third, but Iowa State tied it again in the fourth on an RBI double from Trice. The Hoosiers delivered the decisive blow with a two-run triple in the fifth inning, holding on for a 7-5 victory.

Iowa State recorded nine hits, with Bartholomew, Trice and Clemons each logging multi-hit games. However, seven strikeouts and eight runners left on base prevented the Cyclones from capitalizing on key opportunities.

On the mound, Iowa State used four pitchers, with Ralston delivering a solid three-inning stretch, striking out five while allowing two runs on two hits.

Iowa State will head to the West Coast for the Wilson Invitational in Long Beach, California next weekend. The Cyclones will play five games, including one Friday, two Saturday and two more Sunday.
