The Iowa State men’s golf team opened its 2024 fall campaign with an appearance at the Gopher Invitational in Independence, Minnesota.

The event opened on Sunday with two rounds and concluded with one final round on Monday. The field included two Big 12 rivals in Baylor and West Virginia, as well as in-state rival Iowa.

The Cyclones brought six golfers for the competition, all of which were mainstays throughout the prior season.

Cyclones slip in round two

During the second round Sunday, Iowa State was given a different level of success. The round concluded with the team down in seventh place.

Its seventh-place finish after round two came even though they produced an overall better second round. The Cyclones finished round one with a score of 292, while round two ended with a score of 289.

Despite this, the combined score resulted in a disappointing seventh-place finish at the end of Sunday.
