No. 52 Iowa State fell to No. 17 UCF in a 4-0 contest Friday. The loss drops Iowa State to 8-5 and 2-3 in-conference.

The Knights came out swinging in doubles. Sophia Biolay and Aya El Aouni defeated Cyclone freshmen Gabriela Felix and Julia Camblor 6-0 on court No. 2.

Olivia Lincer and Hannah Rylatt clinched doubles on the first court. They topped Iowa State senior Anna Supapitch Kuearum and freshman Cristina Ramos Sierra 6-3.

UCF grew its lead further in singles. Lincer beat No. 97-ranked Kuearum 6-2, 6-2 on court No. 1.

Olivia Bergler extended the Knights’ lead to 3-0. Bergler took down Cyclone freshman Suzanie Pretorius 6-0, 6-3 on the fifth court.

Rylatt sealed it for UCF with her 6-3, 6-3 victory over Iowa State sophomore Valeska San Martin Ramirez on court No. 6.

It was a tough match for the Cyclones, one that never saw them lead. However, the unfinished matches paint a picture of a team that held its own.

At the No. 3 spot in doubles, Iowa State was up 5-2 before it was unfinished. Camblor tied her match 2-6, 6-4. Freshman Mari Paz Alberto Vilar was up 4-3 in the second set to No. 88-ranked Biolay.

Iowa State looks to bounce back at noon Sunday on the road against Houston.
