AMES – Iowa State wrestling added two All-American transfers to its roster. Head coach Kevin Dresser announced Wednesday the additions of Stevo Poulin and Vinny Zerban, both from Northern Colorado.
With the addition of Poulin and Zerban, the Cyclones have seven wrestlers with All-American status at some point in their careers since the 1982-1983 season. The pair joins Anthony Echemendia, Yonger Bastida, Evan Frost, Jacob Frost and Rocky Elam on the list of current or former All-Americans on the active roster.
“We’re thrilled to add two high-impact transfers to our team in Stevo and Vinny,” Dresser said. “Both guys have found consistent success throughout their careers and will come to Ames ready to scrap.”
Poulin, a three-time NCAA Qualifier, started his career at NC State. He finished in eighth place at the 2025 NCAA Wrestling Championships. Poulin recorded wins over Iowa’s Dean Peterson, Indiana’s Jacob Moran, Army’s Charlie Farmer and South Dakota State’s Tanner Jordan, finishing the season at 24-6. Poulin joins the Cyclones with a 77-19 record.
Zerban, also a three-time NCAA Qualifier, placed sixth at the 2025 NCAA Wrestling Championships. He won the Big 12 Championship at 157 after losing to Ryder Downey of UNI and Cole Siebrecht of South Dakota State during the regular season, finishing 22-7. The Illinois native joins the Cyclones with a 69-24 career record.
Both transfers also boast multiple state titles, Poulin a three-time New York state champion and Zerban a two-time Missouri state champion.
Poulin and Zerban are the fourth and fifth transfer portal additions of the offseason. The Cyclones also added Melton Powe at 174, Isaac Dean at 184 and Elam at 197.
“They will provide an immediate impact in our room,” Dresser said. “We can’t wait to get them settled in.”
