Conditional Formatting is one of the most helpful features of custom ad reports. You may now see a version of it in Ads Manager.
Let’s take a closer look…
How it Works
Conditional Formatting allows you to have Meta automatically format cells based on performance. For example, red is bad and green is good.
In the version that I have, it’s found by clicking the arrows at the top of the Cost Per Result column.
The version found in Ads Manager is much simpler than its predecessor. The Ad Reports version allows for a color scale, for example, while Ads Manager does not.
In Ads manager, you can apply formatting rules to Cost Per Result, CPM, Return on Ad Spend, CTR (All), and CPC (All). With Ad Reports, you can apply it to most of your metrics.
While it’s scaled down, you can customize Cost Per Result rules based on the event. So if you create different rules for Cost Per Purchase, Lead, and other events, you could have many more than five rules.
Simpler May Be Better
This is a start, and sometimes simpler is better. The only problem I’ve seen is that my saved rules disappear when I switch ad accounts. I guess that’s kind of a big problem.
It’s not clear if this is a test or the start of a new rollout. Do you have it?
