The Shamrock Tenors are an Irish band based out of the province of Ulster. The Shamrock Tenors perform Irish classics like “Danny Boy,” “Whiskey In The Jar,” “The Parting Glass” and “Wild Rover” in five-part harmonies.

Their first two singles became number one on the iTunes World Music Charts quickly, and their online performances have more than 30 million views.

The Shamrock Tenors have been known to capture Ireland’s musical and cultural heritage in all of their performances. There are five members of the group: Jimmy Johnston, Tom Brandon, Matthew Campbell, Raymond Walsh and Jack Walsh.

In an interview with the Daily, the group was asked to share some advice they have for Iowa State students looking to attend the Iowa State football game in Dublin next fall.

“If you have time, I would say, ideally, obviously you’ll be in Dublin for the game but if you have a couple of days, get out of Dublin and go everywhere else,” Campbell said.

Dublin is known as the “tourist” part of Ireland and getting out of Dublin would allow students to experience the more cultural side of Ireland, according to the Tenors.

“I think Irish music allows you to feel like you’re part of a big community and you’re joining together and you’re all going through the emotions,” Raymond Walsh said.

The Shamrock Tenors have toured all over Northern Ireland and sold out every show on their tour in advance. They even sold out two shows at the Grand Opera House in Belfast.

“That’s one thing we’re quite good at though; when we go to different states or different cities, we try to get local merch, especially sports teams,” Johnston said while wearing an Iowa State hat.
