Some advertisers are reporting the disappearance of the Advantage+ Shopping option when creating a sales campaign. Instead, they’re seeing Catalog Sales Campaign, which is a tailored campaign option.

Advantage+ Shopping Gone

Is this intentional? Is it a bug? Let’s investigate…

What is Happening?

I also saw this with a few test accounts that don’t have activity. Under where it says, “Why am I seeing this suggestion?” it read:

This setup is suggested based on your ad account information and activity.

One possibility is your defined industry, which is set within Advertising Settings. I experimented with an ad account where the industry wasn’t defined, but setting it as e-commerce didn’t make a difference. Maybe it will eventually.

Ad Settings Industry

It’s also not clear what activity Meta might otherwise look for to change these options. Is it the use of Sales campaigns? A certain ad spend? What is it?

Workaround

If you’re having this issue, the workaround for now is to duplicate a previous Advantage+ Shopping Campaign. You may also get the option to use Advantage+ Shopping when duplicating any Sales campaign.

Duplicate Advantage+ Shopping

We also can’t ignore the possibility of a bug. Let’s be honest, this is very possible, if not the most likely explanation. The ad accounts where I was seeing this have since corrected.

While suggesting different options to different accounts isn’t unreasonable, you’d still expect a way for any advertiser to easily create a new Advantage+ Shopping Campaign. Even if this new suggestion is intentional, I’d expect to see a new way to surface the option sometime soon.
