The weather is cooling off, but with unpredictable rain or sunshine each day, it’s hard to know what to wear.  

Fall marks a transition to cold weather clothing, from seasonal pieces to new styles. With cooler temperatures, it’s all about finding new outfits that keep you warm without sacrificing your style. 

From comfy clothes to cozy shoes, here are some of the most popular fall clothing items students are wearing and seeing around campus. 

Uggs

Starting strong with one of the most popular shoes of the 2000s, Uggs have been seen on campuses all fall season. Their comfy look can go with sweatpants, jeans, leggings and even skirts. With their many variants, it’s easy to find your perfect pair. 

Sabrina Paul, a junior studying political science, said the Ugg Tasmans are her top pick. 

“I have the Tasmans, the shorter ones,” Paul said. “I think those or the mini Uggs are still good.” 

The most notable style of Uggs used to be the “Classic Short Boot,” which reached around the mid-calf. These have been losing traction as the “ultra mini” steals its reign. 

“I think the full or mid Uggs can be left behind,” Paul said.

Henleys

Henleys are a way to add a little more style to an everyday outfit. With their button-up neckline and long sleeves, they are an option for cooler days. Henleys can be worn on their own or layered underneath a jacket or sweater. 

“I have a red Henley that’s my favorite,” Paul said. “It’s versatile because if it’s not too cold outside, I can throw it on, but if it is a little chilly, you can still wear it just fine. You can layer it.” 

With their simple look and variety of colors, it’s easy to see why Henleys are becoming a fall favorite. 

Comfortable styles 

As the weather gets cooler, comfort becomes a key part of fall fashion. Cozy sweaters, oversized sweatshirts or a pair of grey sweatpants are perfect ways to stay warm while also looking stylish. Neutral colors such as cream, grey, brown and black go perfectly for mix-and-match outfit pieces throughout the season. 

Kassidy Buchenau, a freshman studying kinesiology and interior design, said that feeling comfortable is one of their favorite parts of dressing up for fall. 

“It’s comfy, I have a sherpa I like to wear,” Buchenau said. 

These simple staples can be mixed and matched to create a variety of looks for classes, weekends or other fun fall activities. 

With Uggs, Henleys and comfortable styles all making their way around campus, there are plenty of options to embrace fall fashion. No matter the style, finding fall pieces you love is the perfect way to feel confident as the seasons change.
