Theta Chi Fraternity will host a candlelight vigil to raise awareness and honor victims of sexual assault and domestic violence.

The event will be held from 8 p.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the South Campanile Lawn.

Multiple higher-ranking officials will be there, such as the fire chief of Ames, Rich Higgins, SART team leader Natasha Greene, Billy Boulden, educational professors, student body government and members of Greek life here at Iowa State,” Sam Perez, vice president of health and safety, stated in an email.

They will be passing out free hot chocolate and pamphlets for ACCESS.

Two to three speakers will talk at the event and afterward, attendees will get into a large circle to pass around a candle in a moment of silence.

According to Perez, Theta Chi’s chapter has hosted this event for 10 to 12 years.

Perez wants to put an emphasis on community and all members of the community are welcome to attend.
