A quieter week for releases will give some games a better shot at getting noticed. It also highlights the variety of what’s on offer, even amid the debate over just how “crashy” the industry is at the moment. At one end of the spectrum is Kiln, an unconventional competitive pottery party game from Psychonauts maker Double Fine. At the other end is Traysia, a Sega Genesis RPG almost lost to time.

In Kiln, which is getting the full live service treatment, including a 2026 roadmap, players craft ceramic creatures to carry to battle one another and carry water to put out the opposing team’s fire. The creative phase simulates actual wheel throwing, while the battle phase is where all of the chaos happens. It’s one of those rare games that everyone in my family can play together. Unfortunately, there’s no local coop as far as I can tell.

Traysia, on the other hand, is a re-release of a 1992 Genesis game by Telenet Japan that features knights, wizards, and turn-based battles with some grid-based combat mechanics. “[It] should be consigned to the scrapheap of obscurity, never again to sully a Mega Drive’s sacred cartridge slot,” wrote one critic at the time. Well, now it’s back, and I’m too morbidly curious not to give it a try.
