In the second meeting between the Cyclones and the Hawkeyes, Iowa State looks to take a second victory over its in-state rival. With the 195.100-194.575 victory over the Hawkeyes in January, the Cyclones broke a five-meet losing streak.

This in-state rivalry runs deep, dating back to 1971 when Iowa State defeated Iowa for the first time to establish the rivalry.

With a 58-36 record over the Hawkeyes, the Cyclones look to add another victory to the record.

Iowa State sits 5-9 this season, and Iowa sits 3-3. Despite the 3-3 record, the Hawkeyes faced tough competition, so the Cyclones should focus on solid performances, especially during this away meet.

Over the history between the two teams, Iowa State sits 17-18 in away meets. Focusing that energy in an unfamiliar environment will be key to a victory for the Cyclones.

Iowa freshman Aurélie Tran, who competes all around, will be the biggest threat to Iowa State. Tran leads the Hawkeyes in all events.

Like Tran, 19 of the 20 gymnasts for Iowa compete all around, and Iowa State will have to put its best performers in all events.

The Cyclones’ home opener marked the first meeting between the two teams, but this is part of the Iowa Corn Cy-Hawk Series. Earning this win will be big for the rivalry and help make the push for the postseason.

In the home opener, Iowa State had many top contributors, and those gymnasts look to continue to be leaders in this meet.

Senior Josie Bergstrom-Te Slaa and sophomore Noelle Adams scored 9.9 on vault in the last meeting. This duo consistently puts up stellar performances and looks to be valuable in the upcoming meet.

Sophomore Paige Wills led the team on bars with a 9.775 and can also be a key in this win. Senior Lauren Thomas led the team on beam with a 9.850.

Rounding out the top performers in the last meeting between the Cyclones and the Hawkeyes were Adams and freshman Haylee Hardin, who both scored 9.825 on floor exercise.

If Iowa State can complete a stellar performance like once before, a victory is in sight for the team.

This meet is set for 6:30 p.m. Friday and will be streamed live on Big 10+.
