The No. 26 Cyclones return home after three weeks of away meets and host No. 31 BYU Friday.

The Cyclones fought hard against one of their toughest matchups of the season in their 48.775 – 48.575 loss to No. 19 Arizona. As the team stayed tight with the Wildcats, the momentum from that meet looks to set the team up to push past the Cougars.

As BYU pays a visit to Iowa State, its goal is to show that it is the better team despite being ranked lower overall, yet higher in each individual event, compared to Iowa State.

Going into this matchup, the Cyclones hold a 7-8-1 record versus the Cougars all-time.

Although the past matchups between Iowa State and BYU have favored the Cougars, the Cyclones have a chance to tie for wins between the two.

Inside the Big 12 this season, the Cyclones place fifth at 1-3, while the Cougars sit fourth at 1-2.

With the close comparison, Iowa State can find a way to knock out BYU, as its overall season record stands at 4-7 compared to BYU with a 3-10 record.

The Cougars’ best gymnast, junior Kylie Eaquinto, is a big threat to the Cyclones. Eaquinto’s strongest events are uneven bars and floor with vault following close behind.

Despite this tough challenge, Iowa State has three gymnasts who look to lead the team in a tough fight.

Two seniors, Josie Bergstrom-Te Slaa and Hannah Loyim, contribute continuously. Bergstrom-Te Slaa and Loyim will both look to be contenders all around.

Freshman Haylee Hardin also looks to be a vital part of the team with her consistent domination through her floor routine.

The meet is set to take place at 6:30 p.m. Friday in Hilton Coliseum. The meet will be streamed live on ESPN+.
