Iowa weather: Cooler today with more showers for Easter Sunday

ALL RIGHT. 1227 ON THIS FRIDAY AFTERNOON, AND WE’RE HEADING OVER TO DAVID FOR THE LATEST ON THE FORECAST. IT’S EXPECTED TO BE A PRETTY SOGGY HOLIDAY WEEKEND. YEAH, AT LEAST PART OF THE WEEKEND. DEFINITELY LOOKING TOWARD LOOKING TO BE PRETTY RAINY OUT THERE. THANKFULLY WE’RE NOT LOOKING AT ANY SEVERE WEATHER AS WE HEAD INTO THE WEEKEND. CERTAINLY NOTHING LIKE WHAT WE SAW LAST NIGHT AND EARLY THIS MORNING HAD TWO KIND OF ROUNDS OF SEVERE WEATHER. ONE ROUND DEVELOPED OUT IN NEBRASKA, ROLLED THROUGH SOUTHWEST IOWA. TWO DISTINCT, VERY STRONG STORMS. YOU CAN SEE THE PATH THAT THEY TAKE RIGHT THERE. BOTH OF THOSE STORMS PRODUCING NUMEROUS REPORTS OF VERY LARGE HAIL AND SEVERAL TORNADOES IN SOUTHWEST IOWA. AND THEN EARLY THIS MORNING, AFTER MIDNIGHT, ANOTHER ROUND OF STORMS COMES THROUGH NORTHERN IOWA. AND THOSE PRODUCE QUITE A BIT OF HAIL. AND OF COURSE, THE WIND DAMAGE THAT WE SAW IN STORM LAKE. SO A VERY ACTIVE THURSDAY NIGHT, FRIDAY MORNING. THANKFULLY, RIGHT NOW ALL WE’RE LOOKING AT IS CLOUDY SKIES, MAYBE A COUPLE OF LIGHT SHOWERS HERE IN SOUTHEAST IOWA AND AROUND THE METRO. JUST A LITTLE BIT OF DRIZZLE AND IT IS MUCH COOLER COMPARED TO YESTERDAY. COLD FRONT HAS MOVED THROUGH AND THAT CONTINUES TO DROP TO THE SOUTH AND EAST. BEHIND THAT FRONT WE HAVE NORTH WINDS OUT THERE AND WE’RE GETTING SOME PRETTY GOOD GUSTS AT TIMES. IT WILL STAY BREEZY RIGHT ON INTO THE AFTERNOON AHEAD OF THIS FRONT. THAT’S WHERE ALL THE ACTIVE WEATHER TODAY IS GOING TO BE. A SEVERE WEATHER RISK CONTINUES FROM CHICAGO TO SAINT LOUIS TO SPRINGFIELD, DOWN TOWARD OKLAHOMA CITY. THAT’S WHERE WE’LL HAVE TO WATCH FOR PERHAPS SOME MORE LARGE HAIL, MAYBE AN ISOLATED TORNADO. THANKFULLY, HERE IN IOWA, WE’RE JUST LOOKING AT THE CLOUDIER SKIES. NO SEVERE WEATHER, 50 DEGREES RIGHT NOW. NORTHWEST WIND AT 14 MILES AN HOUR. TEMPERATURES ARE NOT GOING TO MOVE MUCH HERE FOR THE REST OF THE DAY. WE DO HAVE SOME 40S IN THE METRO AT THIS POINT, 49 IN WEST DES MOINES, 48 IN BOONE, 49 IN GRIMES. AND THAT COOLER AIR CONTINUES TO PUSH IN FROM THE WEST. IT’S DOWN TO 46 IN ATLANTIC. BUT LOOK AHEAD OF THE COLD FRONT. IT’S 72 IN IOWA CITY RIGHT NOW, 69 IN OTTUMWA. THAT WARM AIR IS GOING TO BE PUSHED OFF TO THE SOUTH AND EAST HERE AS WE WORK THROUGH THE REST OF THE DAY, THANKS TO THESE NORTH WINDS COMING IN 15 TO 25 MILES AN HOUR. SO IT WILL STAY BREEZY HERE FOR YOUR FRIDAY TEMPERATURES MAYBE CREEPING BACK UP TO ABOUT 53, BUT THAT’S ALL WE’RE GOING TO GET HERE FOR THE REST OF THE DAY. CLOUDY SKIES, SOME PATCHY DRIZZLE. TEMPERATURES. DEFINITELY ON THE COOL SIDE. YOU CAN SEE THOSE CLOUDS NOT GOING ANYWHERE HERE FOR THE REST OF THE AFTERNOON INTO THE EVENING. WE DO EVENTUALLY GET SOME CLEARING HERE LATER TONIGHT. SO THAT DOES MEAN WE’LL GET A LITTLE MORE SUNSHINE HEADING INTO YOUR SATURDAY. WE START OFF IN THE LOW 40S, UPPER 30S TOMORROW AFTERNOON. ANOTHER COOL ONE WITH HIGHS IN THE 50S, BUT AT LEAST WILL BE DRY. THAT DOES CHANGE AS WE HEAD INTO YOUR EASTER SUNDAY. SO TONIGHT, CLEARING BACK DOWN TO ABOUT 38 DEGREES TOMORROW. WE’RE TALKING HIGHS IN THE MID TO UPPER 50S, MAYBE A COUPLE OF SPOTS NEAR 60 DEGREES. CERTAINLY A LITTLE BIT BELOW AVERAGE. THEN HEADING INTO EASTER SUNDAY LOOK AT THIS RAIN SPREADING IN FROM THE SOUTH. MAYBE MORNING SERVICES ARE DRY, BUT CERTAINLY BY THE MIDDAY HOURS WE HAVE RAIN MOVING IN AND ONCE THAT RAIN MOVES IN, WE’RE GOING TO HAVE ON AND OFF SHOWERS THERE FOR THE REST OF YOUR SUNDAY INTO MONDAY MORNING. SO DEFINITELY A SOGGY LOOKING EASTER THERE. SUNSHINE IS BACK ON MONDAY, 65 DEGREES AND THEN WE’RE BACK INTO THE 70S HEADING INTO NEXT WEEK. WE’LL STILL HAVE TO WATCH T
