Former President George W. Bush and members of his White House administration are commemorating the 25th anniversary of September 11 tonight in an event at The George W. Bush Presidential Center in Dallas, Texas.

Bush, who was president when the terrorist attacks rocked the United States on September 11, 2001, is being joined by U.S. Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff General Dan Caine and former Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice at the Bush Center for “A Legacy of Service: America at the 25th Anniversary of 9/11.”

While he and former First Lady Laura Bush intend to attend the ceremony at Ground Zero in New York City on September 11, tonight’s event will be former President Bush’s only public remarks in which he will reflect on the anniversary, according to the Bush Center.

The program is intended to “examine the enduring impact of the attacks and the spirit of service that continues to shape the nation in their aftermath,” the center said.

The program opened with a moderated conversation between General Dan Caine, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, and former Deputy National Security Advisor J.D. Crouch.

Their discussion highlighted the courage and accomplishments of the U.S. military in the Global War on Terror since 9/11.

The headline event of the evening is a conversation between the 43rd president of the United States and former Secretary Rice. The two are sharing their reflections on 9/11, amd how the events of that day changed the country and shaped American life.
