This week, the Iowa State dive team traveled to Iowa City for the NCAA Zone D Diving Qualifiers. Juniors Kate Mitchell and Ally Blumenfeld competed along freshmen Maggie Bendell and Abby Tollefson for a chance at qualification for the NCAA Championships.

The Cyclones fielded a team of Mitchell, Blumenfeld and Bendell for the team competition. They placed fifth in the event.

Bendell was arguably the top performer for the Cyclones, placing 35th in the 3-meter and 37th in the 1-meter. She also had a strong contribution to the team effort. The freshman finished her season on a high note, and has a bright future ahead on the diving board for Iowa State.

Mitchell matched Bendell with a score of 245.15 for 37th in the 1-meter. She scored a 25th place finish in the platform event and 42nd in the 3-meter.

Blumenfeld placed 44th and 46th in the 3-meter and 1-meter competitions respectively.

Tollefson kicked off her post-season career with a 51st place in the 1-meter competition.

Although the Cyclones will not advance to the NCAA Championships, all four competitors showed promise for the future. They will all be eligible to return to compete for Iowa State next season.
