Iowa State volleyball senior Brooke Stonestreet was awarded the Big 12 Defensive Player of the Week after stellar performances against Colgate and Syracuse.

With the absence of freshman libero Rachel Van Gorp, the Cyclones turned to the experience of Stonestreet. She was instrumental in holding down the defensive end against the Raiders and the Orange.

Stonestreet recorded 26 digs at 6.5 digs per set against Colgate. At Syracuse, she put up her first double-double match with 27 digs and 10 assists. Her 20 matches with 20 or more digs now place her sixth in Iowa State history.

This is Stonestreet’s fifth Big 12 honor of career. She earned Defensive Player of the Week three times across 2023 and 2022 and was named Rookie of the Week in 2021.

This is the 65th total time the Cyclones have had this defensive honor. Iowa State holds the lead in this category by a large margin, with the next closest being 31 by Texas.

Stonestreet and the Cyclones will be back in action at 2:30 p.m. Saturday against West Virginia in Hilton Coliseum. The game will be streamed on ESPN+.
