Tuesday concluded the first matchups of the spring season for Iowa State’s men’s and women’s golf teams. The Cyclones collectively put together a strong performance. 

Headlining all golfers was junior Paul Beauvy, who finished the tournament 15 under par, including an ace on hole 17 during round three to take first place overall in the N.I.T. in Tucson, Arizona.

The men finished in fifth place, behind BYU, Arizona, New Mexico State and Loyola Marymount, in placement order respectively. The Cyclones finished with a combined 24 under par for the tournament.

Other placements for the Cyclone men were senior Luke Gutschewski -9, sophomore Owen Sawyer +1, junior Zachary May +4 and freshman Luke Metcalf +9.

The Lady Cyclones spent the last two days in Puerto Rico for the Puerto Rico Classic. 

Junior Karisa Chul-Ak-Sorn finished first on the team, tied for 11th place overall. Six strokes and 28 places behind Chul-Ak-Sorn was a tie between freshman Nichakorn Pinprayoon and junior Pammy Chookaew. Rounding out the women’s team was freshman Alexandra Vidal who placed 61st, and sophomore Keeley Marx in 99th.

Next up for the men is the Prestige at PGA West in La Quinta, California, which will occur through Feb. 17 to 19.

As for the women, they will take a trip to Houston for the Chevron Collegiate beginning Feb. 24.
