For the second time in Iowa State’s nearly century-long history of men’s golf, two individuals will represent the Cyclones at an NCAA Regional, continuing a recent stretch of success for the program.
Seniors Paul Beauvy and Zach May were both selected during Wednesday’s Men’s Golf Selection Show to compete for Iowa State at the NCAA Columbus Regional in Columbus, Ohio, on May 18-20.
The selections mark the second time in five years Iowa State has sent two individual golfers to an NCAA Regional after Tripp Kinney and Lachlan Barker accomplished the feat in 2021.
Both Beauvy and May consistently appeared near the top of leaderboards throughout the season. Beauvy recorded five top 10 finishes, while May posted three top five finishes.
Beauvy opened the season with a three-way tie for first at the Gopher Invitational and finished with the fifth-best single-season stroke average in program history at 70.94. He joined former Cyclone Luke Gutschewski as the only players in program history to record multiple seasons with a stroke average below 71.
Beauvy also tied his career low with a 64 during the opening round of the Wyoming Cowboy Classic, matching the third-lowest round in program history. He finished his Iowa State career with a program-record 71.52 career stroke average.
May’s three top-five finishes all resulted in podium placements, including a runner-up finish at the Steelwood Collegiate Invitational and third-place finishes at both the Bell Bank “Pay It Forward” Collegiate and the Tiger Collegiate.
May finished the season with a 71.69 stroke average and carded a career-best 65 during the final round of the N.I.T. earlier this spring. The round tied for the 11th-lowest score in program history and helped May conclude his collegiate career with a 73.39 career stroke average.
Beauvy will compete in an NCAA Regional for the second consecutive season after qualifying for the NCAA Urbana Regional in 2025, where he finished 11th with a 54-hole score of 209, the fourth-lowest regional score in program history.
To advance to the NCAA Men’s Golf Championship, either Beauvy or May must finish as the lowest-scoring individual not on one of the top five advancing teams.
The NCAA Men’s Golf Championship is scheduled for May 29-June 3 at Omni La Costa Resort & Spa in Carlsbad, California, if either Cyclone advances.
