Family support is key for many students to have a successful college journey, and the Cyclone Family Weekend lets students show their families the campus they call home throughout their college years. This year, the weekend festivities will run from Friday to Sunday at different spots on Iowa State’s campus.
Each fall, Cyclone Family Weekend is planned and executed by Tracy Borts, the program director for Parent and Family Programs. The weekend’s programming strives to strengthen connections through a variety of events that help families explore their students’ journey at Iowa State.
“Through Cyclone Family Weekend, Parent and Family Programs hope to create a supportive environment that contributes to the overall success and well-being of our students,” Borts said.
This year, Iowa State has teamed up with a variety of campus partners to make these activities possible and design events to strengthen family connections.
“We collaborate with more than 30 campus partners and are always looking for more,” Borts said.
Cyclone Family Weekend kicks off the beginning of the school year by giving parents and students the opportunity to build a support system while exploring Iowa State’s campus and everything it has to offer.
“The event helps build a sense of community among students, families and the university, allowing families to meet and connect with other Cyclone families,” Borts said.
