The 2026 Major League Baseball (MLB) season has concluded its yearly trade deadline, and this has shaken up the landscape of the rest of the season exponentially.
Many all-stars swapped teams and will make a huge impact on their new teams.
All of these trades made headlines, but some were bigger than the others.
DET to LAD
The trade that made the most noise was by far Tarik Skubal to the Los Angeles Dodgers.
Skubal has been a weapon for the Detroit Tigers, averaging a 3.04 earned run average (ERA) for the club over six seasons, with two of those seasons bringing an ERA of under 2.50.
Following a slow start to the season, many fans expected Skubal to be traded. However, they started to win more as the deadline was approaching, and there was no consensus among fans on whether or not he would be traded.
Dedicated Tigers fans who stayed up to watch game two of their series against the Athletics found out the news live at 10:31 Central Time, but 11:31 in Detroit, that their star player had been traded.
The Dodgers have been putting together a team that is full of all-stars and multiple-time award winners and is seemingly unbeatable.
Skubal lost his first start with the Dodgers on Tuesday, pitching six innings while giving up two earned runs on four hits, one being a home run.
BAL to BOS
All-Star catcher for the Baltimore Orioles was one of the trades not a lot of people had on their bingo card this deadline.
One of the more surprising trades benefited the hot Boston Red Sox and seemingly made the already dangerous team more dangerous.
Rutschman played four full seasons with Baltimore with a batting average of .254 over that time.
Coming off of a short season due to injury in 2025, Rutschman has seemingly returned to form with eight home runs and a .251 batting average.
Rutschman will remain on the IL before debuting for the Red Sox but will return shortly after his arrival.
SF to PHI
Three-time batting title winner arrives at his fourth team looking to help Philadelphia win a World Series title.
Arraez has been one of MLB’s best hitters in the past four years, having the highest batting average out of any player in three seasons and having a .329 batting average through his whole career.
The Phillies have been competing in the National League (NL) all season, sitting in second place in the NL East division and in the second wild card slot in the NL as well.
Philadelphia has an all-star offense already with Bryce Harper, Kyle Schwarber, Trea Turner and Bryson Stott. Adding Arraez will be able to propel them even further, with their offense making them a dangerous team down the stretch.
SEA to CWS
The story of the Chicago White Sox has been one everyone has been watching all season.
Coming into this season, the White Sox have had three consecutive 100-loss seasons, and broke the record for worst record in modern MLB history in 2024 with a record of 42-121.
So far this season, the White Sox have gone 59-53 and sit in first place in the American League Central division.
The White Sox needed a veteran starting pitcher at this deadline and added that with Luis Castillo from the Seattle Mariners.
Castillo is playing in his ninth season in 2026 and hasn’t gotten off to the best start of his career, going 3-9 with an ERA of 5.09.
Castillo has been a dominant pitcher throughout his career, averaging a 3.65 ERA.
WSH to NYY
Garcia Jr. has been with the Washington Nationals since 2020 and has been a solid player for them throughout that stretch.
The Nationals have been a borderline team this season, on the brink of a wild card spot and being out of the postseason.
It has been a very up-and-down season for them, as they were hot in July but have a seven-game losing streak at the trade deadline. While Garcia Jr. was not their all-star player, he was a good supporting cast to their all-star players CJ Abrams and James Wood.
Garcia Jr. now joins a Yankees team that is short their star player, Aaron Judge, but is still looking good and like a playoff team.
