On Tuesday, insomniacs nationwide gathered at their local Insomnia Cookies to celebrate the sixth annual PJ Party Night. The Insomnia Cookies on Welch Ave. offered deals and prizes to celebrate the occasion. People from around the Ames community lined up in their pajamas to celebrate the event.

The first 25 people through the doors at 8 p.m. received a free t-shirt featuring the phrase, “The night is yum,” and any free classic cookie of their choice.

“I got in line at 7:20,” Kassidy Sliwa, a senior in biology, said. Sliwa was the first person in the line that wrapped around the building.

Customers also received a temporary tattoo that could get them one free classic cookie every day with an in-store purchase. As long as the tattoo is visible on the customer’s skin, they can redeem this promotion once a day for the rest of September. Many of the insomniacs were pleased with the turnout of the event.

“Seeing the outpour of support for a local business by the student body was my favorite part of tonight,” Cooper Becthold, a senior in psychology, said.

Not only did this event draw in Insomnia’s regulars, but it also attracted new customers to give it a try.

“This is my first time coming here,” Megan Curtis, a senior in English, said.

Insomnia Cookies was founded in 2003 at the University of Pennsylvania by a former student, Seth Berkowitz, to fuel the late-night studying of college students. Today, the chain has more than 300 locations, serving cookies to college students nationwide.

Insomnia Cookies currently has three limited time only cookies: Pumpkin Spice Latte, Fruity Cereal ‘N Milk and PB&J-Filled.

This event was exclusive to Insomnia Cookies rewards members. More promotions like this one can be found on the company’s website
