See more than 100 hot air balloons take flight and paint the sky during the 2024 National Balloon Classic.
The nine-day event brings in balloon pilots from all over the world to Indianola, Iowa, to compete for points, prizes and championship titles. But the festival won’t just have hot air balloons. You can also see live music nightly, fireworks and drone shows, according to the National Balloon Classic’s website.

The 2024 National Balloon Classic starts 4 p.m. Friday, July 26 and runs until 11 p.m. Aug. 3.
What is the Indianola balloon classic schedule?
Events kick off at 6:30 p.m. Friday, July 26. Most days include competition flying starting at 6:30 a.m. and evening entertainment starting at 6:30 p.m.

Where is the National Balloon Classic?
The classic is held at the Memorial Balloon Field located at 1136 150th Ave., Indianola, Iowa.
What can I bring to the National Balloon Classic?
It is recommended to bring lawn chairs or blankets to sit on. Chairs are not provided, but there are a limited number of chairs that can be rented on a first-come, first-serve basis. One backpack or bag is allowed per person and will be subject to inspection.
Items that aren’t allowed include weapons of any kind, laser pointers, fireworks, flames, animals (except service animals) and outside food and drink.
How much is parking for the National Balloon Classic?
General admission parking comes with the purchase of a ticket. General admission parking includes handicapped parking. The parking area is located directly south of Memorial Balloon Field. There will be traffic signs to follow, and once you arrive a volunteer will guide you where to park. Be sure you have your ticket when you leave your car because they are scanned at the entrance.
How much are tickets for the National Balloon Classic?
This year, general admission for the National Balloon Classic is $12.65. Make sure to pay online because tickets can not be purchased at the gate. Tickets are for sale throughout the entire competition.
